What is HaloStream

Not a remote desktop.
A creative extension.

Remote desktop tools mirror your screen. HaloStream builds a native creative layer on top -- gesture recognition, tool overlays, layout memory -- so your iPad becomes a genuine extension of your workstation.

01

Desktop power,
always intact

Your workstation's GPU, RAM, and software remain untouched. HaloStream never moves your files to the cloud. Processing happens on your machine -- HaloStream only carries the interaction layer to your iPad.

02

Touch interface
built for creation

Every overlay is designed around how professional creatives actually work: Procreate-inspired gestures, canvas-first priority, tool panels that remember where you left them, shortcuts mapped to natural movements.

Why HaloStream is different

Other tools stream your screen.
HaloStream extends your studio.

Other streaming tools

  • Mirror your desktop pixel-for-pixel
  • No touch adaptation -- mouse pointer on a tablet
  • No awareness of which application is open
  • No gesture system, no shortcut mapping
  • No layout memory or per-app configuration

HaloStream

  • Adds a creative touch layer on top of the stream
  • App-specific overlays adapt to each tool's logic
  • Canvas-only gesture recognition -- zero accidental input
  • Full shortcut engine: any keystroke, one tap
  • Layout memory per application, switchable presets
Three ways to work

Choose how much
HaloStream takes over.

From minimal touch assistance to a fully reimagined interface, HaloStream adapts to the depth you need -- per session, per application.

Mode 01

Canvas only

The entire screen becomes a pure drawing surface. Gesture-first interaction, with overlays optional and retractable. For animators and illustrators who want complete immersion.

Mode 02

Full desktop

Access your complete desktop environment -- every menu, every panel, every dialog. Works with touch, stylus, or mouse. Full cursor control with an optional floating shortcuts bar.

Mode 03

Mix mode

The recommended mode for most workflows. Your application runs normally, enhanced by context-aware overlays: tool panels, gesture shortcuts, and brush controls -- all non-intrusive and retractable on demand.

Adaptive overlay system

An interface
that steps back.

HaloStream overlays are designed to give you what you need and disappear when you don't need them. The canvas is always first.

Dockable and retractable panels

Pin any panel to an edge, collapse it to a tab, or float it freely. One tap to show, one swipe to hide.

Layout memory per application

Open Harmony and your panels are exactly where you left them. Switch to Illustrator and a completely different layout loads automatically.

Left- and right-hand mode

Every overlay adapts to your dominant hand. Controls shift position, gestures mirror, panels reposition -- in one tap.

Three overlay densities

Ultra-simplified for beginners, basic for daily use, pro for full control. Switch without losing your layout.

Built for creative workflows

Designed for real
professional practice.

HaloStream is not a general-purpose tool. Every overlay, every gesture, every shortcut mapping is built around how professional creatives actually spend their day.

2D Animation

Frame-by-frame drawing, onion skinning controls, timeline scrubbing by swipe, exposure management -- all accessible without touching the keyboard or lifting your stylus.

Illustration

Brush size, opacity, blending modes, layer management -- mapped to intuitive gestures. The canvas fills your iPad entirely. Tools appear when you need them.

Storyboard

Panel navigation by swipe, sketch tools always within reach, quick annotation mode -- build boards at the pace of thought without breaking creative flow.

Motion Design

Keyframe scrubbing, parameter nudging, composition navigation -- touch-adapted for After Effects and similar tools. Complex timelines, simple hands.

Video Editing

Drag-and-drop on a timeline designed for fingers. Cut, trim, and sequence with precision. Shortcut panels bring your most-used actions to one tap.

3D Modeling

Viewport navigation rethought for touch: orbit, pan, zoom with intuitive multi-finger gestures. Tool radials for Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D and similar software.

How it works

Ready in minutes.
Built for years.

01

Install HaloStream Host on your PC

A lightweight application that runs quietly in the background. It manages the streaming session and communication layer between your machine and your iPad. Compatible with NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs.

02

Connect from your iPad -- on your local network

Open HaloStream on your iPad, select your workstation, and the session starts in seconds. Your applications appear exactly as you left them. No configuration. No VPN. No compromise.

03

Choose your mode: Canvas, Desktop, or Hybrid

Select how much HaloStream takes over. Pure canvas immersion, full desktop access, or a hybrid with overlays -- switchable at any time without interrupting your session.

04

Create -- with your hands, your stylus, your way

The overlay loads for your active application. Your tools, your shortcuts, your layout. HaloStream gets out of the way and lets you make the work you came to make.

Yes, for V1. HaloStream streams over your local network -- Wi-Fi or ethernet. A 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection is sufficient for most workflows. Remote access over the internet is planned for a future release.
HaloStream uses hardware-accelerated encoding and is compatible with NVIDIA (GTX 900 and later), AMD (RX 5000 and later), and Intel Arc GPUs. The encoder is selected automatically based on your hardware.
V1 ships with overlays for Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe Illustrator. Additional overlays for After Effects and other applications are in development. The exact list will be confirmed at launch.
Android tablet support is planned for the next release, after the iPad experience is fully refined.
Yes. HaloStream supports Apple Pencil with pressure and tilt where the application supports it. Pencil and finger input are handled as distinct input types.
Custom overlay creation is planned for Studio and higher plans. The overlay system uses an open JSON-based schema, and tooling for building custom overlays is in development.
